EuroGEO Marine & Coastal Action Group Workshop

July 6, 2026 July 7, 2026

The EuroGEO Marine and Coastal Action Group, led by GEO Blue Planet and GEO AquaWatch EU, is hosting a 1.5-day workshop titled "Data to Intelligence: Co-creating Strategies with EU Initiatives", focused on strengthening the link between Earth Observation (EO) data and decision-making for marine and coastal environments.

Bringing together around 30 representatives from EU-funded projects and initiatives, the workshop will explore how to transform EO data into actionable knowledge that supports policy, sustainability, and ocean resilience. The discussions will align with key EU priorities, including the European Green Deal, the Digital Twin of the Ocean, and the European Ocean Pact.

The event aims to:

  • Highlight practical approaches that enhance EO uptake and support evidence-based governance.
  • Identify current gaps and emerging needs in data-to-intelligence frameworks.
  • Co-develop strategic recommendations to improve the long-term usability, integration, and impact of project results and decision-support tools.

The programme includes project presentations on Day 1, focusing on data-to-intelligence approaches and key insights, followed by interactive discussions on Day 2 to define priorities and next steps. Networking opportunities, including a social gathering, will support collaboration and knowledge exchange among participants.

Insights from the workshop will contribute to shaping the EuroGEO Marine and Coastal Action Group’s implementation roadmap, helping advance the use of EO-based intelligence for a sustainable and resilient blue economy.
