Atlantic Plastics 2026: 3rd International Symposium on Marine Plastic Pollution from the Arctic to the Antarctic

October 20, 2026 – October 22, 2026

Atlantic Plastics 2026, the Third International Symposium on Marine Plastic Pollution from the Arctic to the Antarctic, will bring together leading scientists, policymakers, and stakeholders from around the world to address one of the most pressing environmental challenges of our time.

The symposium will cover the entire lifecycle of plastic pollution, from monitoring and assessment to understanding sources, pathways, and environmental fate. Discussions will also explore the wide-ranging impacts of plastic pollution on ecosystems, human health, economies, and societies, alongside emerging solutions such as circular economy approaches, industry innovation, and ecosystem restoration.

A strong focus will be placed on the science–policy interface, highlighting how cutting-edge research can inform effective decision-making and support better governance at regional and global levels.

By fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and international dialogue, Atlantic Plastics 2026 aims to accelerate the development of practical, evidence-based solutions that contribute to healthier, more resilient marine ecosystems.

The Government of Iceland will host the Third International Symposium on Plastics in the Atlantic at Harpa, Reykjavík Concert Hall and Conference Center, on 20-22 October 2026.
