On 4 September, the CU “Grant Office Odesa 5T” hosted the first stakeholder meeting in Odessa under the BioProtect framework. The event was part of the project “Restoration of Marine Biodiversity and Ecosystem Resilience in the Odessa Region through Innovative Solutions.”
The meeting brought together local stakeholders and European experts to discuss regional challenges and opportunities for marine biodiversity restoration. A core aspect of BioProtect is stakeholder engagement, ensuring that communities, scientists, and policymakers work together to design effective environmental measures to address human pressures and climate change.
Participants included representatives from the Development Policy Foundation (Poland), the Odessa City Council’s Department of Ecology, the Institute of Marine Biology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Odessa State Agrarian University, the NGO “Interested,” the Ukrainian Scientific Center of Ecology of the Sea, the National University “Odesa Polytechnic,” the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and NAS of Ukraine, and other academic and civic institutions.
By combining local expertise with BioProtect’s tools, the collaboration helps deliver solutions that are impactful, and scalable.
