The BioProtect project is thrilled to highlight its role in one of the most extraordinary maritime challenges of recent times. During his record-breaking swim around Iceland’s entire coastline, Ross Edgley collected environmental DNA (eDNA) samples to help scientists study the region’s coastal biodiversity.

This groundbreaking effort marks the first continuous eDNA sampling around Iceland, providing valuable data for marine conservation and supporting efforts to protect 30% of Europe’s seas by 2030. The collaboration between Ross and BioProtect showcases the powerful intersection of adventure and science.
